Bakewell is an attractive market town which lies within the Peak District National Park. This walk has the advantage of a tea shop around a third of the way along at Hassop Station, and tea rooms a plenty in Bakewell it's self when the walk is over. For easy access to the trail, there are ramps at Bakewell Station, Hassop Station, Great Longstone Station and Millers Dale Station. Getting There: Bakewell is a prominent market town in Derbyshire Hassop Station Book & Gift Shop A new book cafe with outdoor covered seating and play, with a focus on food, family & fresh air. A circular walk from Bakewell heading north along the Monsal Trail to Hassop Station along a bridle path to reach the River Wye where you follow the river's banks back to the town of Bakewell. Hassop Station Cafe is on the Monsal Trail in Bakewell, DE45 1NW and is a really lovely family-friendly place to grab a bite to eat. During the walk, you will also pass Hassop Station Café where you can sit outside in the covered seating area and get food and drink. The most parking is in Bakewell where there are several pay and display car parks in the town and a small car park next to the Trail at Bakewell Station. Refreshments: There are plenty of coffee shops and tea rooms in Bakewell, where you can get a drink. It has many attractive courtyards, independent shops, cafes. Turn right and walk for almost half a mile to Hassop Station. The paths are flat into Bakewell from Hassop Station Cafe, and there is cycle hire available. One unusual feature of this walk is the total absence of any stiles! Yes, the trail is pram and wheelchair accessible. While the Monsal trail itself is an out-and-back trail, there are options to connect your walk to other trails to make it a loop. An easy going walk on well defined paths. Dogs can be run free on parts of this walk, but as always care should be taken around livestock.
